-
Don't wear jewelry in water. Remove your jewelry before showering, hand washing, and swimming.
-
Remove your jewelry before doing strenuous physical activities like working out or doing household chores.
-
Remove your jewelry before going to sleep. Some jewelry, which is light and hollow, can get deformed.
-
Avoid wearing jewelry in extreme weather conditions, e.g., on a beach, sauna, or while skiing.
-
Avoid contact with chemicals. Hand sanitizers, soaps, perfumes, sprays, and moisturizers can cause jewelry to oxidize and tarnish. Use perfume and sprays before wearing your jewelry.
-
Do not use toothpaste, baking soda, dishwashing soap, or a toothbrush to clean your jewelry. Brushing may cause the small claws to weaken and break.
-
Protect your jewelry from external forces. Sharp blows and collisions can deform gold and may cause diamonds to loosen. Avoid dropping and tapping on hard surfaces. Do not physically manipulate your jewelry. Refrain from bending the metal. Do not attempt to reshape the setting.
-
Keep your jewelry in a clean, dry & airtight box or ziplock. Wipe gently using a jewelry polishing cloth to clean.
-
Stacking rings may cause damage when done incorrectly. We recommend stacking rings with the same metal types to avoid oxidation. Make sure rings will not rub down on each other. Constant friction between gold and a diamond may cause the gem to loosen and fall off.
-
Always check if gems are loose before wearing your jewelry. The easiest way to tell is to hold the jewelry up and shake it next to your ear. A loose gem will make an audible rattling sound. Another sign of loosening is when a gem wiggles to touch. When a stone is loose, stop wearing the jewelry and send it back to the boutique to have it checked. Do not attempt to repair it on your own.
-
Ultrasonic cleaners use vibration to clean jewelry, but prolonged use may cause gems to loosen from mountings. To avoid this, dip jewelry into the tub for a maximum of five (5) seconds. Repeat until the jewelry is clean. Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner on jewelry with pearls, corals, turquoise, ivory, shell, cameos, jet, and amber.
-
Rhodium plated pieces are vulnerable to damage when coming in contact with certain chemicals or even acidity found on the skin. It is best to remove your jewelry when working with your hands or better yet, set the jewelry aside for wear on special occasions.
-
The risk of diamonds falling out is high when a ring is resized, especially for channel set and pavé set stones. These stones are set in the metal that is manipulated during the resizing process. Therefore they can become loose, cracked, chipped, or fall out of the setting.
-
It is a common misconception that jewelry will last a lifetime. Unlike other metals, gold is soft and malleable, so great care should be used to make it last. The overall longevity of jewelry is dependent on the environment, quality of the jewelry, and exposure to wear and tear. All jewelry made by The Diamond Finery is carefully checked by jewelry professionals to make sure gems are securely attached to metal.

All fine jewelry can be affected by normal wear, activities, or trauma. This is especially true for rings, as hands are actively used and subject to daily pressure. Some examples of common jewelry issues considered wear and tear include:
Discoloration of precious metals caused by chemicals, makeup, immersion in pools, hot tubs, or bathing.
Precious metals, and especially prongs, wear down over time and may require restoration work.
Prongs catching, wearing out, or bending over time due to everyday wear or normal damage, allowing a gemstone to fall out.
The loss of a gemstone caused by damage from everyday wear or other damage.
-
We have created a jewelry care program to make sure your jewelry is always in excellent condition.
-
Included in your purchase is a one (1) year free service repair of loose gems and polishing for any kind of oxidation. This warranty will only cover the cost of repairing the setting and does not include the replacement of gems. This warranty will likewise not cover electroplating fees.
-
Clients are required to return the jewelry for maintenance check-ups on the 6th and 12th month of purchase. Failure to return the jewelry within fifteen days of the specified dates will void the warranty.
Upon return, our team will check the cause of the damage, and any evidence of failure to treat your jewelry with the necessary care will void this warranty. Coverage also excludes damage or loss caused by failure to obtain the repairs required to preserve the integrity of the jewelry. Repairs or service performed by a jeweler other than The Diamond Finery will void the warranty.
